Job summary

Tidewater Community College is seeking a part-time Installation and Repair Technician to support on-site telecommunications and microcomputer devices across multiple campuses. The IRT will perform installation, testing, and repair to support staff, faculty, and students, reporting to the Supervisor of Desktop Services.

Qualifications

Knowledge of personal computers, operating systems, peripheral devices, and desktop applications (Apple OS, Windows 10, Office).
Basic knowledge of LAN/WAN networks including TCP/IP and related protocols.
Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair desktops and peripherals; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
Assist in desktop standardization and performance.
Use diagnostic and data recovery software to install, configure common software and OS (Windows 10 and Apple).
Setup and maintain network interface systems (Ethernet, Fast Ethernet).
Test wiring, IP telephone equipment and peripherals for voice, data, video services.
Coordinate work with customers; document; communicate with Telecom/Network/Support teams.
