Job summary

The University of Notre Dame’s hospitality team is hiring temporary cooks (Cook 1–Cook 3) to support on-campus dining operations at Morris Inn and North Dining Hall. Roles include basic prep, station cooking, and adherence to food-safety standards within a fast-paced kitchen.

Positions are part-time with varied shifts. The team emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and the ability to stand for extended periods while handling kitchen tasks across multiple stations.

Qualifications

• Capable of managing time effectively with minimal supervision.
• Positive, respectful, and committed to the schedule you create.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods (up to 6 hours).
• Ability to move, lift and handle equipment, supplies and other objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Follow food safety procedures for handling, storing, and serving food products

Responsibilities

• Assist with fundamental food preparation, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and mise en place.
• Prepare simple menu items such as salads, sandwiches, and breakfast dishes, following recipes accurately.
• Maintain a clean and stocked workstation throughout service.
• Adhere strictly to all food safety and hygiene standards.
• Receive and correctly store deliveries and supplies under supervision.
• Prepare and cook foods at assigned stations with attention to presentation and timing.
