Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a part-time Behavioral Resource Technician (BRT) to support patient safety and care at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The role involves one-to-one observation, basic patient care tasks, and timely reporting to nursing staff.

Ideal candidates will have a GED/HiSET, CPR, CPI/BLS training, and prior behavioral health or paraprofessional experience. The position offers 24 hours/week with 12-hour day shifts and rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• GED or HiSET required.
• 1 year of relevant patient care experience required.
• 2 years of behavioral health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety observation of the patient(s) assigned.
• Maintain a safe environment and interact with patient, family, and staff professionally.
• Provide direct patient care as assigned (bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, turning, repositioning).
• Report any changes to the nurse immediately and document every 15 minutes during shift.
• Demonstrate competency for one-to-one observation under suicidal patient policy; stay awake and alert at all times.
