Job summary

Police Athletic League, Inc. (PAL) in New York City is seeking an Assistant Director to oversee afterschool and school-based programs, ensuring safe, engaging activities for youth across ages.

The role reports to the Program Director and requires on-site leadership, strong collaboration with partners, and effective program delivery. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience in youth services, a commitment to SEL and inclusion, and the ability to manage staff and resources while

Qualifications

• Requires an associate degree in child development, education, physical education, recreation, or a NYS credential.
• Two years of direct youth service experience, with leadership capacity.
• Strong planning and evaluation skills; ability to work with diverse youth.
• Open to learning mental health, SEL, and inclusion skills.

Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional development in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Lead PAL afterschool programming and oversee staff and resources.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise part-time staff.
• Ensure compliance with DYCD, SACC regs, and safety policies.
• Coordinate with NYPD, DOE, and community partners to expand programs.
