Job summary

The Police Athletic League, Inc. (PAL) in New York is seeking part-time Group Leaders to support afterschool activities across SEL, dance, sports, STEAM, literacy, and career readiness.

You will report to the COMPASS or SONYC Director and work with the Content Specialist to run engaging programs. The role requires at least a high school diploma, two years in a nonprofit youth setting, strong classroom and behavior management, and a willingness to learn mental health, SEL, and inclusion skills;

Qualifications

• Requires minimum High School Diploma / GED with 2+ years in a nonprofit youth setting.
• Strong classroom and behavior management skills are essential.
• Bilingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese is preferred.
• Open to learning and growing, with ongoing mental health, SEL, and inclusion skills training.

Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional competencies and well-being in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Support planning and implementation of activities (SEL, arts, sports, STEAM, and more).
• Implement PAL curricula and lead group activities.
• Build positive relationships with youth, families, and staff; model appropriate behavior.
• Be aware of students with IEPs or medical needs and follow supports accordingly.
