Job summary

Norfolk State University is seeking the NSU00800 Assistant Parking Director to lead campus parking and transportation services. This role oversees daily operations, enforcement, permits, and event logistics while delivering professional, customer-focused service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in parking or campus operations, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with Police, Athletics, Facilities, and Event

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of progressive experience in parking services, transportation, campus operations, public safety, or a related field.
• Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, and coaching employees.
• Experience managing daily parking operations, including permit programs, parking enforcement, and special event parking.
• Experience coordinating large-scale events, including traffic control, parking logistics, and staffing plans.
• Experience handling customer service issues, appeals, complaints, and conflict resolution professionally.
• Experience preparing reports, maintaining records, and analyzing parking data to improve operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee parking operations, including permits, enforcement, and event parking.
• Lead supervision: hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching.
• Respond to inquiries and complaints professionally per University policy.
• Assist with budgeting, purchasing, payroll/timekeeping, and reporting.
• Coordinate with Police, Athletics, Facilities, and Event Management on operations and events.
• Plan for athletics, move-in, commencement, and other events; ensure staffing and equipment readiness.
• Work overtime for special events as required.
