Job summary

VP STUDENT ENROLLMENT, ENGAGEMENT & SERVICES in Norfolk is seeking a Parking Enforcement & Events Officer to enforce Transportation and Parking Services regulations and issue citations. In the field, you will disseminate parking information, direct customers, and support university events as needed.

The role requires superb observation, strong people skills, and the ability to work under dynamic conditions.

Qualifications

• Superb observation skills.
• Requires ability to learn and interpret parking regulations.
• Ability to learn and utilize several different computer software programs.
• Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods in all weather conditions.
• Ability to drive a vehicle safely and get in and out of a vehicle regularly throughout the work shift.
• Requires ability to focus and record detailed vehicle information, including vehicle make, model, year, and license plate data.
• Excellent people skills, including the ability to positively direct customers, disseminate information, and defuse confrontations.
• Demonstrated organization and supervisory skills, and the ability to react positively to dynamic and stressful situations.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including radio communication.
• Ability to read policies and instructions and provide direction to subordinates.
• Ability to work with diverse customer groups.

Responsibilities

• Write citations on vehicles found in violation of Transportation and Parking Services regulations.
• Disseminate parking and directory information while in the field.
• Support special university events as needed.
