Job summary

City of Indianapolis is seeking an Assistant Manager to work with management of recreation centers, parks and pools within the division, supervising Senior Park Managers and support staff.

The role involves developing policies, guiding managers, managing budgets and program planning, delivering training, and recruiting for citywide day camp, playground and aquatic programs; strong communication and public-sector experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of managerial experience in Recreation or related field.
• Understanding of purchasing, budgeting, program registration, facility reservations.
• Proficient with personal computers, word processing, e-mail, scheduling, and spreadsheets.
• Strong written and verbal communication; customer service orientation.
• CPRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, monitor, and ensure compliance with department policy and procedures.
• Guide Senior Park Managers in all areas of responsibility.
• Manage Indy Stat data, standards of service, and property maintenance.
• Recruit, hire, and manage the citywide Day Camp, Playground and Aquatic programs.
• Analyze data for budget decisions and program planning.
• Communicate department policy and mission to Park Managers.
• Provide staff training and evaluate performance.
