Job summary

City of Indianapolis and Marion County seeks an Assistant Park Manager to oversee programs, facilities and staff in the Park Manager's absence. You will help design recreational programs across aquatics, sports/fitness, arts, youth and family services, seniors, special needs, and day camp.

You will assist in budgeting, contracts, partnerships, staff training, and customer service improvements, including on-site supervision and monitoring of services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or four years' experience in Recreation or related field.
• Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Customer service oriented and self-motivated.
• Licenses/certifications required: CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Indiana Public Passengers Chauffeurs License, NYSCA Clinician Certification; CPRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall programs, services, facilities, and personnel at park location in absence of Park Manager.
• Assist design and implement recreational programs in core service areas (aquatics, sports/fitness, arts, youth/family, seniors, special needs, day camp).
• Assist development and management of fiscal resources, contracts, and partnerships for the park.
• Oversee and coordinate a volunteer park advisory council.
• Assist in training and professional development of park personnel.
• Assist in assessing community recreational needs, plan and evaluate programs and services.
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate on-site personnel, volunteers and contractors.
• Develop budgetary needs for recreation services and monitor spending/revenue.
• Procure supplies and monitor improvements to park resources.
• Coordinate training and adherence to department policy and customer service standards.
