Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Technician III for Fort Macon State Park in Atlantic Beach, NC. The role involves carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC tasks, plus grounds and facilities maintenance, with opportunities to supervise staff or volunteers on special projects.

Qualifications

• Two years of progressive experience in the trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics).
• Experience in grounds maintenance/landscaping.
• Experience in maintenance on buildings, facilities, and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints/structural specifications and/or building codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled trades tasks in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and facility maintenance.
• Operate and repair various tools and equipment.
• Maintain preventative maintenance on tools, equipment and facilities.
• Assist in purchasing resources per state policies.
• Maintain records and prepare forms.
• May supervise temporary and permanent staff and volunteers.
