Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician II for Hammocks Beach State Park. You will perform semi-skilled trades, maintain grounds, buildings, and equipment, and support housekeeping and project work.

The role may involve supervising temporary staff and volunteers. Typical schedule is Wednesday–Saturday with possible evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated work experience performing trades in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
• Demonstrated experience in performing grounds maintenance/landscaping.
• Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance on buildings, facilities, and grounds maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and/or auto mechanics.
• Operate large and small equipment and/or tools.
• Purchase resources in accordance with state purchasing policies and procedures.
• Maintain records and prepare operational forms.
• Assist in housekeeping.
• May supervise temporary and permanent staff, community service participants, and/or volunteers on special projects.
