Job summary

The North Carolina Zoo, part of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician II to maintain park grounds, buildings and equipment at Stone Mountain State Park. The role covers plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and auto mechanics, with opportunities to supervise staff and volunteers.

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–3:30 PM with possible evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Two or more trades experience among carpentry, plumbing, electrical or auto mechanics.
• Experience in grounds maintenance/landscaping.
• Experience maintaining buildings, facilities and grounds equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled trades in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance.
• Operate large and small equipment and tools.
• Purchase resources per state purchasing policies.
• Maintain records and prepare operational forms.
• Assist in housekeeping.
• May supervise temporary staff, permanent staff, volunteers on projects.
