Job summary

City of Omaha is seeking a part-time/seasonal grounds maintenance worker to mow, trim, reseed, and maintain park grounds and city rights of way in Omaha, Nebraska.

You will operate park equipment, clear debris, and keep restrooms clean, while complying with safety rules and shifting duties as needed. This role requires physical stamina, ability to lift 50 lbs frequently, and outdoor work conditions. Background checks may apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions with tools and equipment.
• Ability to operate assigned equipment.
• Ability to understand and measure base distances.
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
• Ability to push a lawn mower 75–100% of the work day.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently; up to 100 pounds occasionally; and up to 75 pounds frequently to move objects.

Responsibilities

• Mows, trims, reseeds, landscapes, and cleans public park grounds, facilities, and City rights of way.
• Mows grass and removes weeds, downed trees, limbs, branches, and debris from parks and abandoned private properties.
• Picks up trash and litter and empties trash barrels.
• Marks and drags ball fields.
• Cleans restroom facilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
