City of Omaha is seeking a part-time grounds maintenance worker to help keep parks, facilities, and city rights of way in good condition. You will operate tractors and other maintenance equipment, perform landscaping tasks, water lawns, apply chemicals, lay sod, prune trees, and repair park structures.

The role may involve supervising a small seasonal crew and requires heavy lifting, safety awareness, and adherence to written and oral instructions.

Formación

• Knowledge of operating tractors, trucks and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of safety requirements for operating tractors, trucks and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Some knowledge of maintenance and repair of motorized equipment.
• Skill in operating a tractor and attachments.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.

Responsabilidades

• Mows, trims, reseeds, landscapes, and cleans park grounds, facilities, and rights of way.
• Waters grounds using sprinklers and repairs sprinkler heads.
• Applies chemicals and spreads fertilizer.
• Lays sod and prunes trees.
• Mows grass and removes debris from parks and abandoned private properties.
• Paints and repairs park recreational equipment.
• Operates tractors and attachments.
• Operates and maintains maintenance vehicles under 26,000 pounds GVW.
• Operates other grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
• Serves and makes routine repairs to assigned equipment.
• May supervise a small crew of seasonal employees (2–3).
• Performs other duties as assigned within this classification.
