Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Parent Involvement Specialist to coordinate and support family engagement initiatives for students with disabilities. The role focuses on training parents and district staff, building partnerships, and guiding communication strategies.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED (bachelor’s preferred) and at least two years of experience supporting families of students with disabilities, with English/Spanish bilingual abilities preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting parents of students with disabilities.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide workshops and training to parents and educators of students with disabilities that focus on collaboration and effective communication.
• Collaborate with an advisory committee of parents, special education personnel, and advocacy agencies to improve programs and services.
• Attend local special education advisory boards/committees to communicate with parents.
• Develop and maintain partnerships to ensure parents of students with disabilities participate in district initiatives.
• Collect and analyze parent involvement data to correlate involvement with student outcomes.
• Provide and coordinate workshops to help parents navigate the special education process.
• Promote early conflict resolution to maintain positive working relationships.
