Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Transition Specialist within the Office for Students with Disabilities to support implementation, expansion, and monitoring of transition services for students with disabilities. This full-time exempt role focuses on post-secondary outcomes and collaboration with schools, families, and community partners.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, a valid teaching certificate/PEL with endorsements (preferred), and at least three years

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Rehabilitation Services, Counseling, or related field is required.
• Master’s degree in Transition Special Education or Rehabilitation Counseling is preferred.
• Valid teaching certificate / PEL with LBSI and LBS-II endorsements is preferred.
• Minimum of three years educational work and/or social service experience is required (discussed in posting).
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, and/or American Sign Language, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and monitoring of transition services for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with schools, families, and community partners to enhance post-secondary outcomes.
• Coordinate with DHS and other agencies to facilitate transition planning and services.
• Lead professional development sessions for school staff on transition strategies.
• Collect data for post-school outcomes and grant opportunities.
