Teradata Corporation (SE) seeks a Database Internals Engineer to help design next-generation parallel compute engines. You will work on the Office of the CTO’s Advanced Research Team, shaping engine architecture, plan/optimizer, and storage layers for massively parallel workloads.

The role emphasizes building end-to-end relational and transactional capabilities, with a focus on safety, correctness, and performance across distributed components.

Qualifications

• Experience in systems programming with Rust or C/C++.
• Understanding of relational algebra and query optimization basics.
• Hands-on experience with vectorized execution and columnar data formats.
• Experience with testing, benchmarking, and correctness gates for concurrent/distributed paths.

Responsibilities

• Build components across the engine spine: SQL front end, plan layer, optimizer, operators.
• Develop storage substrate and data formats with checksums and B-trees/LSM methods.
• Implement transactions, recovery, and distribution for parallel execution.
