You will influence engine architecture, storage design, and transaction processing in a greenfield project with the potential to redefine enterprise analytics. You will collaborate with senior architects and engineers who defined the field,

Qualifications

• Systems programming in Rust or C/C++ with memory-safety discipline.
• Relational foundations end to end: relational algebra and the algebraic laws behind query rewrites, logical→physical lowering, and cost‑based optimization.
• Demonstrated depth in at least one area of the engine spine (front end, plan/optimizer, operators, storage engine, transactions/recovery, or scale‑out).
• Vectorized execution over a columnar (Arrow) representation: batch‑at‑a‑time operators, the pull/iterator model, null handling.
• Cost reasoning at the metal: cache behavior, SIMD, allocation patterns, and parallel performance considerations.
• Test‑and benchmark‑gated engineering: golden/sqllogictest, property and fuzz testing, deterministic simulations, microbenchmarks and V&V gates.

Responsibilities

• Build components across the engine spine: SQL front end, plan/optimizer, and operators.
• Build the storage substrate: Arrow in‑memory format and slotted‑page on‑disk storage with checksums and B‑tree/LSM access.
• Implement transactions and recovery: MVCC, WAL, checkpoints, crash recovery.
• Add parallelism and distribution for query work: exchange‑based parallelism and distributed consistency.
• Write design specs, tests, and benchmarks; ensure correctness before performance.
