Job summary

Teradata Corporation is seeking a Database Internals Engineer for Next-Gen Parallel Compute Engine. Join the Advanced Research Team within the Office of the CTO to build massively parallel, decentralized compute and contribute to a new engine design that shapes storage, plans, and operators.

You will work on the engine spine, storage substrate, and parallel execution, while writing specifications, tests, and benchmarks to ensure correctness and performance from day one.

Qualifications

• Strong systems programming in Rust or C/C++.
• Experience with relational foundations and query processing.
• Familiarity with distributed/parallel engines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build components across the engine spine: SQL front end, plan layer, optimizer, operators.
• Develop storage substrate and formats with reliability features.
• Implement transactions, recovery, and correctness mechanisms.
• Add parallelism and distribution with correct axes for execution.
• Write design specs, tests, and benchmarks before coding.
