Job summary

Teradata is seeking a Database Internals Engineer to help shape the next generation of a massively parallel compute engine. You will contribute to the engine spine from SQL front end to physical plan, while addressing storage, transactions, and recovery.

This is a frontier role within Teradata's Advanced Research Team in the Office of the CTO. You will collaborate with senior engineers, write design specs, and design tests to ensure correctness before performance.

Qualifications

• Systems programming in Rust or modern C/C++ with memory-safety discipline.
• Relational foundations end to end: relational algebra and cost-based optimization.
• Vectorized execution over a columnar (Arrow) representation and batch-at-a-time processing.

Responsibilities

• Build components across the engine spine: SQL front end, plan layer, optimizer, and operators.
• Develop the storage substrate and ensure data integrity with checksums and MVCC.
• Implement transactions, recovery, and parallel execution strategies.
