Job summary

Teradata seeks a Database Internals Engineer to help design a next-gen parallel compute engine. You will contribute to the Office of the CTO's Advanced Research Team, building components from the ground up, including the SQL front end, plan layers, and storage sub-systems.

You will collaborate with architects and senior engineers on distributed query optimization, vectorized execution, and robust transactional behavior, while maintaining a rigorous testing and benchmarking discipline.

Qualifications

• Deep dive into distributed query optimization and AST binding.
• Experience with parallel execution pipelines where distribution is core.
• Familiarity with systems like Apache DataFusion or similar distributed execution frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Build core components of a next-generation parallel compute engine.
• Develop storage substrate with in-memory and on-disk formats; implement transactions.
• Add parallelism and distribution with correct axis and atomic-commit semantics.
• Write design specs and tests first; verify correctness before speed.
