Job summary

Teradata seeks a Database Internals Engineer to join the Office of the CTO Advanced Research Team and shape the next-generation massively parallel compute engine. This role involves building components across the engine spine, storage substrate, and transactions, while advancing parallelism and data correctness in a high-impact research setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with distributed query optimization and execution.
• Experience designing parallel execution pipelines where distribution is a first-class concern.
• Familiarity with Apache DataFusion or similar distributed execution frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Build components across the engine spine: front end, plan layer, optimizer, and operators.
• Develop storage substrate with in-memory and on-disk formats.
• Implement transactions, recovery, and concurrency controls.
• Add parallelism and distribution for query work with correct axis and replication.
• Write design specs, tests, and benchmarks before coding.
