Job summary

Horizon Elementary in Everett, WA is seeking a Paraeducator for 6.25 hours per day across 180 days per year, with benefits. The role supports a teacher with students who have challenging behaviors, starting immediately. Hours are 8:25 a.m. to 3:40 p.m., with an unpaid lunch break from 10:50 to 11:50.

The candidate will assist with instructional delivery, supervision at recess and meals, bus ramp, and possible IEP-related tasks. Experience with WA para qualifications is required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic math, spelling, reading, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Desire and aptitude to work with students.
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, supervisors, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to manage student behavior and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher with daily supervision to maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Administer tests, collect data, update records, and track student progress.
  • Monitor behavior and share observations with staff.
  • Support implementation of strategies for diverse student needs and growth.
  • Provide clerical support and prepare classroom materials.

Skills

Basic WA State Para qualifications
Experience working with children
Bilingual Spanish speaker

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Associate degree or higher / 72 quarter credits / 48 semester credits
Paraeducator apprenticeship / PESB assessments
