City Year AmeriCorps members serve as city-wide tutors and mentors, focusing on elementary to high school students. You will coach, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to support academic success, attendance, and positive behavior.

Training is provided with 2–4 weeks at the start, and members participate in school-based activities alongside staff. The role emphasizes service, growth, and community impact.

Formación

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA status not eligible).
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsabilidades

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily routines and practice.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress.
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programs before, during and after school.
• Recognize and celebrate student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior.
