Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in elementary through high schools, delivering academic support, attendance improvement, and positive behavior development. You will plan individualized progress, collaborate with teachers, and help create a safe, engaging classroom environment.

Training is provided (2–4 weeks) and ongoing support is available from partner staff. This is a full-time, paid, AmeriCorps role with benefits and a bi-weekly stipend, open to

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students 1:1 and in small groups to support academic success
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and assist teachers with in-class instruction
• Support literacy and math development with varied activities and targeted questions
• Create and maintain a positive, engaging classroom space in collaboration with teachers
• Collect, record, and analyze student progress data for reviews and planning
• Contribute to extended day and virtual programs to boost student engagement and development
