Job summary

Alls Well Healthcare, in partnership with California’s DDS, offers a statewide paid 3-month shadow training program for a Direct Service Professional (DSP) Intern. Participants shadow staff up to 30 hours weekly under a DSP mentor, gaining hands-on experience with adults who have developmental or intellectual needs.

The internship covers a range of duties, including daily living support, communication assistance, community participation, and progress documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have a High School Diploma (or equivalent) or a Certificate of Completion.
• Must have a valid Identification Card or Driver’s License.
• Must pass a background check and other required health screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living skills (e.g., cooking, hygiene, transportation).
• Support communication and social interaction.
• Encourage participation in community activities.
• Facilitate access to services and resources.
• Support education, job readiness, and career goals.
• Document services and progress.
• Ensure the person remains at the center of all decision-making.
