Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking an entry-level Student success coach and mentor to support students across elementary, middle, and high schools. You will coach, mentor, and monitor student progress, assisting teachers with instruction and student services.

Two to four weeks of training are provided at year start, with ongoing collaboration with school staff and partner teachers to drive academic success and healthy school culture.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to serve with City Year AmeriCorps and meet program requirements.
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and eligible to work in the U.S.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• Commit to start by July/August 2025 and complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic outcomes.
• Support teachers with whole-class instruction and in-class student assistance.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and development.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space and supervise learning activities.
• Support extended-day and after-school programs and family engagement.

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
