Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level Student Success Coach and Mentor as part of AmeriCorps. You will coach and mentor students, support teachers, and help foster academic achievement, attendance, and positive behavior in classrooms across elementary to high school levels.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided at year start.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; not eligible for DACA.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Ability to begin City Year by July/August 2025; start date varies by location.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills through varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect, record, analyze and monitor student progress.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during and after school.
