Job summary

ALPLA McDonough Plant is seeking a packaging operator for the 6pm–6:30am shift. The role involves operating and maintaining packaging equipment, loading materials, and ensuring quality through visual checks. You will document production records and perform changeovers with accuracy.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, be able to lift up to 55 lbs, and work a long shift in a fast-paced environment. ALPLA offers strong benefits, including health, retirement, and education support.

Qualifications

• Must be able to operate and troubleshoot packaging equipment.
• Able to load, build, and make boxes; hand packaging bottles.
• Must perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain multiple packaging machines.
• Load labels, cartons and bottles; hand-pack as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and loading/unloading of materials.
• Document finished goods records and packaging specs; verify quality visually.
• Conduct changeovers and ensure correct labeling and packaging integrity.

What You Will Enjoy Doing

Hours: 6pm-630am

Main Responsibilities:

• Setup, operate, maintain, troubleshoot multiple types of packaging equipment. Equipment may include, but is not limited to:
  • top closers
• Manual responsibilities include:
  • loading, building and make boxes
  • hand packaging of bottles
  • loading labels
• Maintenance includes:
  • perform routine cleaning, and minor maintenance of equipment to ensure smooth operations
  • Loading/unloading packaging materials such as corrugate, containers or other raw materials
• Documentation:
  • Accurately document records of finished goods, packaging specifications, or anyvisual quality checks
  • Perform changeover’s of divers packaging equipment (eg case erector, partition inserter, top sealer, …)
  • Applies correct labels
  • Perform quality check consisting of visual inspection of overall product, labels and packaging integrity for defects

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred

Additional Requirements:

• Capable of lifting 55 pounds and to stand for a minimum of 12 hours
• Able to work with multiple types of equipment simultaneously
• High cleanliness standards for the machines and work area

Physical Demands:

• The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, push and pull, reach with hands and arms and very occasionally to climb or balance.
• The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• The employee must regularly lift and/ or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 38 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move or push /pull up to 55 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
