Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to oversee operations and people development across the span of care. You will coach Leads and Team Leaders, drive performance management, and implement process improvements to sustain Meijer’s culture and financial success.

You’ll manage onboarding, talent discussions, and succession planning while ensuring scheduling, safety, and customer service standards are met. This role emphasizes teamwork and strategic execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Demonstrates commitment to safe operations.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.
• Strong business acumen.
• Innovative attitude to help Meijer set industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and discusses career paths to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Leads candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Accountable for area operations and financial results, overseeing plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and oversees overall store condition and procedures.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders in daily work and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
