Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a store leadership professional to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations while mentoring team members and promoting exceptional customer service. You will drive staffing decisions, coaching, and development across multiple store areas to ensure sales goals are met and standards are maintained.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Clear and precise direction to team members; strong communication skills.
• Ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyze financial information.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling and lead teams to meet goals.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and continuous training.
• Mentor team members including SDITs, hourly staff, and team leaders.
• Completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members to meet service and sales goals.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and career development for team members.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions as needed.
• Manage P&L, achieve sales targets and maintain shrink within department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service and uphold Meijer standards.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Ensure team is thoroughly trained and completes required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service.
• Promote a safe work environment and maintain consistent attendance.
