Job summary

Simpson Community Shelter and Apartments is seeking an Overnight Shift Supervisor to help manage operations at the Simpson’s Emergency Shelter. The role combines leadership with direct guest service, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and a hospitable environment for guests and staff.

The position is full-time and primarily overnight, with potential daytime meetings and trainings. Supervises overnight staff and reports to the Shelter Program Manager on HR and program needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services or Community Development; or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
• Experience with diverse populations and homelessness is preferred.
• Ability to supervise staff and work independently within a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for on-site operations of the shelter including front desk and dining room.
• Read shelter notes daily and update staff and volunteers.
• Ensure adequate supplies for operation and coordinate maintenance needs.
• Support guests with crises and safety.
• Manage overnight staffing and crisis situations.
• Accurately complete data entry and maintain confidentiality of records.
