Job summary

Volunteers of America Colorado is seeking a Shelter Coordinator to provide rotating 30-minute break coverage across Denver Metro Area shelters. The role manages facilities during coverage, supporting housing stability and safety for participants within multiple programs, including Safe Haven and family shelter services.

Responsibilities include documenting interactions, coordinating with staff, and upholding ethical standards.

Qualifications

Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Good organizational and planning skills; works well as part of a team and independently.
Knowledge of Service Point database.

Responsibilities

Ensure participants' voices are heard and incorporated into programming.
Maintain knowledge of program requirements, referrals, support services and best practices.
Document all participant interactions and required eligibility information.
Maintain safety and welfare of participants and the facility; de-escalate conflicts when needed.
Assist in volunteer training and supervision; ensure proper tracking and indemnity forms.
