Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California & Northern Nevada, Inc. is seeking overnight support staff for Our Place Shelter in Sparks, NV. This variable-hour role covers the 10:00 PM–6:30 AM shift, focusing on safe, compassionate service to residents and maintaining daily operations.

You will assist with meals, housing basics, property management, laundry, safety checks, and clerical duties while upholding program rules and confidentiality; CPR/First Aid training is required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to communicate effectively with participants and staff.
• Must work irregular hours and be a team member.
• CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules and assist residents with observance.
• Coordinate meals, bed assignments, showers, and daily routines.
• Provide awake shift coverage and maintain an engaging presence.
• Conduct wellness, safety, and sanitation checks during shifts.
• Maintain daily reports and handle clerical tasks on shift.
• Assist with participant property management and inventory.
• De-escalate crises and respond to emergencies as needed.
