Job summary

Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada seeks an overnight Support Staff member for the Nevada Cares Campus in Reno. The role runs 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, full-time, providing shelter services and case-management support to adults and families experiencing homelessness.

You will help with meal services, dorm areas, safety checks, and coordination with county partners. CPR/First Aid certification and a Nevada driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate and comprehend instructions.
• Must be flexible to work irregular hours and be a team member.
• Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Explain program rules and regulations to residents and facilitate observance of the rules.
• Coordinate meal preparation/service, bed/sleeping assignments, showers, laundering, and other daily routines.
• Provide awake shift coverage and maintain ground security with hourly safety checks.
• De-escalate crises and provide emergency assistance as needed.
• Maintain daily reports and logs for statistical information.
• Perform housekeeping and maintenance tasks to meet health/sanitation requirements.
• Respond to participant questions and concerns.
• Complete shift logs, observation logs, and incident reports.
• Notify management of workflow problems and resource needs.
