Job summary

Ruby's Place is seeking a Shelter Monitor / Residential Advocate for the Tracy, CA overnight shift (Sunday–Thursday, 11pm–7am). This 40-hour, full-time, non-exempt role supports a 150-bed shelter with direct participant engagement on-site in the Bay Area.

The position pays $23 per hour, requires a high school diploma, strong communication, crisis management, and teamwork, and involves trauma-informed, survivor-centered practices. Local travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background checks including Live Scan required.
• Trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to shelter participants, ensuring a respectful and welcoming environment.
• Assist participants with understanding program expectations, schedules, and available services.
• Respond to participant needs and provide basic information and referrals to appropriate services.
• Monitor shelter spaces to ensure safety, structure, and adherence to program guidelines.
• Complete shift logs, incident reports, and required documentation accurately.
• Notify the Program Coordinator of incidents requiring escalation.
