Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Overnight General Merchandise Team Leader to oversee store operations, lead staff, and drive sales while maintaining Meijer standards. You will staff, hire, mentor, and evaluate team members, manage P&L and shrink, and promote a safe, customer-focused shopping environment.

You will spend significant time on the floor engaging customers and guiding teams across departments, with emphasis on training, disciplinary actions when needed, and promoting the Meijer Friendly

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members in all areas of the organization including SDITs, team members in hourly positions and team leaders.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentor and coach team members to meet customer service and sales goals.
• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations on discharge.
• Manage P&L, sales, and shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Ensure team training and required certifications are completed.
• Spend most of the time in-store engaging with customers and team members to deliver exceptional service.
• Maintain safe work environment and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
