Job summary

Global Medical Response is seeking a Dispatcher in Bay Shore, NY. The role centers on receiving, recording, and managing ambulance requests, providing pre-arrival instructions, and coordinating EMS resources to ensure rapid, safe responses.

The ideal candidate has EMS or telecommunications experience, strong English literacy, excellent radio/phone communication, accurate data entry, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have minimal medical training or telecommunications experience or, have at least one year's experience as an EMS or public safety dispatcher.
• Skilled in reading and writing English.
• Ability to communicate clearly on the radio and telephone.
• Ability to record, transmit, and report information accurately.
• Ability to efficiently utilize all equipment assigned to him/her.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Possess good typing skills with speed and accuracy necessary to efficiently process emergency and nonemergency calls.
• Ability to understand basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Receives, records, and manages requests for ambulance assistance/transport.
• Offers pre-arrival instructions as indicated.
• Allocates EMS resources using established protocols.
• Completes paperwork accurately before shift end.
• Generates and checks shift data entries and reports.
• Locates incident scenes and identifies best routes.
• Relays information from supervisors and emergency information.
• Maintains knowledge of company policies and procedures.
• Follows established service request formats.
