Zusammenfassung

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dock Supervisor to lead shift operations, oversee safety, and drive efficiency in our freight network. You will manage dock teams, schedule work, and coordinate with the Operations leadership to meet daily and weekly objectives.

You will monitor safety protocols, ensure proper loading/unloading, and use OD’s proprietary systems to track shipments. Strong communication and DOT knowledge are essential for success.

Qualifikationen

• High School Degree or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2 years working operations experience preferably in the transportation industry.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS and BLU systems.
• Knowledge of general DOT regulations.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Monitor and evaluate the safety of each employee on a daily basis.
• Monitor and evaluate the safe and efficient loading and unloading process of freight throughout the shift.
• Teach employees safe lifting techniques and model safe lifting practices.
• Maintain housekeeping within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
• Supervise dock employees to ensure proper utilization of personnel and equipment.
• Manage dock work schedules and time off requests.
• Coordinate with Operations Manager and Service Center Manager to meet objectives.
• Provide analyses and ideas for improving shift operations.
• Give feedback to employees regarding productivity and compliance, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
• Conduct daily inspections for safety, OSHA, and DOT compliance.
• Ensure 100% of trailers are loaded correctly for safe transport.
• Inspect trailers for cleanliness and loading techniques.
• Operate OD’s systems to monitor freight movement.
• Complete forklift training and use as needed.
• Conduct daily shift meetings.
• Make quick decisions based on volume levels and communicate schedules to staff.
• Check tools and equipment conditions and correct any unsafe conditions.
• Ensure compliance with company and government regulations.
• Be available to work assigned shifts as needed.
