Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Lead Dock Worker to support the dock supervisor and lead on the loading and unloading of freight. You will ensure accurate loading, oversee trailer preparation, and coordinate with the team to promote efficient shifts.

The role requires experience with freight handling, safety practices, and the ability to use yard management tools on a fast-paced service center floor. Joining OD means joining a family-oriented, growth-minded team.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Working knowledge of safe lifting and moving freight.
• Familiarity with freight forms and documentation.
• Ability to monitor loading quality and use dock tech.
• Comfort operating a handheld tablet on site.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack or manually.
• Apply loading techniques such as tight or cross loading.
• Transport personnel and freight across the service center.
• Monitor freight locations with the Yard Management System.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and freight paperwork.
• Ensure proper loading and securing of all trailers.
• Assist the supervisor and coordinate productive shifts.
