Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader responsible for overall team member engagement and coaching within a store area. You will drive recognition, feedback and performance management while overseeing staffing, training, and succession planning.

You will direct Leads and Team Leaders and be accountable for area operations and financials, including scheduling, safety, and budget adherence. You will work to implement process improvements and uphold Meijer’s culture across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer/community needs.
• A strong business acumen.
• An innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all team members and vendors feel valued and supported.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identify talent and support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Discuss performance and growth opportunities with team members.
• Own area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drive safety and compliance and manage store condition.
• Guide Team Leaders and Leads on daily work and training needs.
• Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
