Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Michigan is seeking an Area Leader responsible for team member engagement, training, and coaching across the span of care. You will drive recognition, feedback and performance management while directing Leads and Team Leaders and owning area operations and P&L.

You will identify talent, ensure onboarding and development, manage staffing forecasts, uphold safety and compliance, and implement process improvements to sustain Meijer’s customer-first culture and store performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.
• An innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and promote growth within the organization.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budget items in the P&L to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store condition while following all procedures.
• Guides Team Leaders and Leads, assigning daily work and coordinating training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
