Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and performance across a span of care. You will coach, recognize, provide feedback, and manage staffing, training and succession planning while ensuring strong operational and financial results.

You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, oversee scheduling, and foster a safe, productive store environment. A background in retail or grocery and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Strong communication delivering clear directions.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Commitment to safe working practices and store standards.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.
• Inclusive leadership fostering valued team members and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identify talent and plan staffing with a diverse leadership pipeline.
• Conduct candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversee area operations and financial results, managing budgets and forecasting.
• Drive safety, compliance and store condition management.
• Direct Team Leaders and Leads with daily assignments and training needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
