Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement and performance across a designated span of care in our stores. You will lead onboarding, coaching and development, and ensure financial and operational targets are met.

You will oversee leaders, manage staffing plans and budgeted P&L, and champion safety and compliance while promoting Meijer’s inclusive culture and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support store staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Liaises in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results by executing corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and manages store conditions and procedures.
• Directs Team Leaders and Leads in daily work assignments and training needs.
• May perform other duties as assigned or required.
