Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement and performance across the span of care. You will coach, recognize, provide feedback, and manage talent and succession while ensuring area operations meet financial targets.

You will direct Leads and Team Leaders, while upholding safety and Meijer culture. This role emphasizes coaching, budgeting, and process improvements to deliver exceptional customer experiences and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking in the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs and gain market share.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team members to ensure effective onboarding, training, development, and coaching.
• Identify talent and support staffing strategies for diverse leadership roles.
• Lead candid discussions to uphold standards and grow within the organization.
• Oversee area operations and financial results, managing budget lines in the P&L.
• Drive safety and store compliance, and manage store conditions.
• Direct Team Leaders and Leads in daily work and training needs.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
