Job summary

Meijer Inc. invites applications for an Area Leader to drive team engagement, coaching, and development across the span of care. You will direct Leads and Team Leaders and be accountable for area operations and the P&L while championing safety and process improvements that uphold Meijer’s culture.

You will identify talent, guide staffing strategies, and ensure onboarding and growth opportunities across store leadership, with a focus on customer satisfaction and sales performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to give clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that prioritizes safety.
• Proactive and creative thinking applied to the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to onboard, train and develop skills.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing plans and leadership pipelines.
• Maintains Meijer standards through candid discussions and coaching.
• Oversees area operations and financial results within the budget.
• Drives safety, compliance and store condition management.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders, assigns daily work and training needs.
• Performs additional duties as required.
