Job summary

MasTec Utility Services is seeking an OHE Lineman A apprentice to assist Journeyman Lineman and the Foreman in building and maintaining electrical distribution systems. The role emphasizes safety, on-the-job training, and teamwork in a field setting.

The position involves performing diverse tasks from pole setting to line switching, with emphasis on quality and timely work. CDL class A is required, and OSHA 10 certification is preferred for advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of lineman experience.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Preferred: 5+ years of lineman experience.
• Preferred: OSHA 10 Certification.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, and inspect transmission and distribution of electrical lines.
• Provide technical skills for operation and maintenance of reliable electrical services.
• Connect/disconnect, install/remove, move, and transfer of electrical devices on customer facilities.
• Route or reroute power lines over, under, or around existing lines and structures.
• Inspect and/or remove damaged power lines.
• Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, and setting/replacing poles.
• Perform line switching or sectionalizing as directed.
• Assist in on-the-job training of apprentices and crew members.
• Submit Apprentice Program documentation on time.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems on customer equipment.
• Drive bucket truck to jobsite and maintain truck stock.
• Investigate consumer complaints and perform repairs on energized lines.
