Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a motivated Outside Sales Representative in Michigan. You will build and maintain relationships with contractors and homeowners, selling our full line of building materials and installed services.

You will manage each project, visit sites, and maintain up-to-date customer information to drive repeat business. You should have sales experience, knowledge of home-building basics, and strong communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced, commission-based environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales with a focus on building materials or construction products.
• Knowledge of home-building basics and project requirements.
• Ability to create material estimates/quotes and manage special orders.
• Open new accounts regularly and manage ongoing customer relationships.
• Ability to read blueprints and provide material takeoffs.
• Strong planning and organizational skills; independent work style.

Responsibilities

• Sell our full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors, builders, and remodelers.
• Manage each sold project and nurture the customer relationship from start to finish.
• Visit job sites as needed and maintain customer information and trends.
• Maintain schedules, communicate with multiple departments, and follow up on quotes and orders.
