Job summary

Carter Lumber Company is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to sell our full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors, builders, and remodelers. You will manage relationships, visit job sites, and maintain up-to-date customer information while driving revenue through commissioned sales.

This role emphasizes independent work ethic, strong planning, and effective communication across departments to ensure projects are completed on time and to spec.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales for building materials or related products.
• Knowledge of home building basics and contractors market.
• Ability to create material estimates/quotes and manage special orders.
• Proven ability to open new accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Learn to read blueprints and provide material take-off lists.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Sell full line of building materials and installed services to local contractors, builders, and remodelers.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and internal departments.
• Visit job sites as needed and manage project lifecycle from quote to delivery.
• Keep customer information up to date and follow sales processes to maximize revenue.
