Job summary

U.S. VETS Prescott is seeking an Outreach Specialist to connect veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk to housing and supportive services.

You’ll visit shelters, treatment programs, and community sites to publicize services and build trusted relationships with veterans and partner agencies. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, a valid driver’s license, and experience in social services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness and/or the veteran population.
  • One year of experience in social services.
  • Strong oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Publicize U.S. VETS services by visiting shelters, treatment programs, transitional housing, sober living programs, soup kitchens, and other locations where people experiencing homelessness may congregate.
  • Maintain a database of client information and referrals to track veterans and schedule screening appointments.
  • Coordinate transportation for veterans to U.S. VETS sites and program events.
  • Collaborate with external service providers to ensure timely collection of required paperwork for client files.
  • Produce weekly reports of veterans encountered by the outreach team.
  • Attend weekly outreach meetings and participate in team activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
